The Big Thicket is a crossroads of many different ecological areas such as grasslands, prairies, forest nearly as thick as rain forests, sandy lands along creeks, and swamp lands similar to the bayous found in neighboring Louisianna. This particular swamp is located in the Big Thicket of Southeast Texas. Cypress knees are very common in the Big Thicket. When the water level drops, the cypress knees are often higher than a man's knees.
